Plain-English terms for using Blanc and this website. If anything here is unclear, email us — we're glad to explain.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Bananify, the studio behind Blanc, covering your use of the Blanc desktop browser and this website. By downloading, installing, or using Blanc, or by using blancbrowser.com, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Blanc.

They cover the desktop version of Blanc for macOS, Windows, and Linux. A mobile version is in development and isn't covered yet; we'll update these terms when it launches.

Using Blanc

Blanc is provided free of charge, for personal or business use. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to install and use it.

Blanc is proprietary software, and all rights in it are reserved by Bananify. It is not open-source. Except where the law specifically permits otherwise, you may not resell, redistribute, rent, sublicense, modify, decompile, or reverse-engineer the app, or remove any of its notices.

Becoming a supporter

Blanc's features are free, and none of them are locked behind payment. If you'd like to support the project, you can make a one-time supporter purchase, which unlocks a few extra app-icon colorways — a cosmetic thank-you, nothing more.

Supporter purchases are sold through Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment and any applicable tax under their terms. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and any refund requests are handled through Polar.

Acceptable use

Please use Blanc lawfully. Don't use it to break the law or infringe others' rights, and don't interfere with or attempt to disrupt the app, this website, or the services they rely on.

The websites you visit

Blanc is a tool for reaching the web. We don't control, endorse, or take responsibility for the third-party sites you visit or the content you access through Blanc — that's between you and those sites. Blanc's ad and tracker blocking is provided on a best-effort basis and isn't guaranteed to block every ad or tracker.

Software updates

Installed copies of Blanc may check for and install updates automatically, so you stay on a current and secure version. We may add, change, or discontinue features as Blanc evolves.

No warranty

Blanc and this website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't warrant that Blanc will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its blocking will catch everything.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bananify will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising out of or relating to your use of Blanc or this website. Because Blanc is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to the amount you actually paid us, if any — for example, a supporter purchase — in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Blanc and uninstall it at any time. This license ends automatically if you stop using Blanc or if you breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue — such as the license restrictions, disclaimers, and liability limits — survive after the agreement ends.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to Blanc or these terms will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you agree to that venue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and continuing to use Blanc after a change means you accept the updated terms.
